High Quality, Video Life Stories
for Children Looked After

Thoughtfully filmed and sensitively managed, Walk a Mile life stories powerfully
capture a young person’s past and present as part of their social care support

Walk a Mile provides a comprehensive digital life story service for children looked after.

Working with local authorities and social workers in the Eastern region, we provide a professional resource to social work teams looking to add this valuable tool to a child looked after’s journey of support.

Traditionally, life stories have been completed by social workers and have been created in a basic, paper book form.  Walk a Mile provides filmed, digital life stories that can be watched for years to come.

We work closely with the child’s social worker to build a picture of their past and to understand the influences that have built their identity to date.

We then digitally capture key events, memories and history from the child’s life, featuring interviews and commentary from influential people from their past and present.

Each life story is filmed and directed by a trained, experienced videographer and managed by an experienced social worker, both of whom have the skills to sensitively deal with the child, their friends and their family.

The Production

SENSITIVELY PRODUCED • PERSONALISED

Each film is sensitively produced in the location that suits the individual being filmed and communication throughout the project is carried out according to their needs.

Throughout production, the project team remain in communication with the child’s social worker, updating on progress and making any changes to planned filming as necessary.

The finished life story is a thoughtfully produced, personalised and authentic capture of memories and commentary that is securely stored indefinitely, so can be accessed at any time.  A copy of the film is also provided to the social worker and child on a USB stick.
